Anti Bullying Training for Teachers

Anti-Bullying training for teachers is not a core part of teacher training. We have lobbied the government for many years to try and make anti-bullying training a core part of teacher training. Service providers can currently choose whether or not to offer anti-bullying training as part of their teacher training programmes.

Actionwork has provided anti-bullying teacher training to teachers in the UK and abroad including:

  • University of Sussex
  • Livingstone School, Zambia
  • Camden Borough Council
  • Lewisham Borough Council
  • Lancashire Youth Service
  • Torbay Youth Service
  • North Somerset Local Authority
  • Luton Borough Council
  • Stockholme International School, Sweden
  • Dawn Center for Women, Kansai, Japan
  • Bournemouth and Poole Primary Care Trust
  • Worcester Local Authority

One-day Anti-Bullying Teacher Training

These sessions are for teachers, trainee teachers and youth workers. They last for two to three hours each day. The two-day INSET is more in depth and is run for smaller groups of teachers. The concept of bullying is explored on many levels, as is how to spot bullying. What the word bullying means, strategies for dealing with bullying, listening to students, reporting bullying, keeping a log, bullying and the law and how to prevent being bullied are all subjects explored in these sessions. These sessions are fun, energised and powerful. We utilise a fusion of styles including role-play, games, improvisation and discussion.

Groups from 10 - 80 teachers at a time. Sessions are run in your school hall or studio.
