Volunteer with Actionwork®
Who are we?
Actionwork® is the leading theatre and TIE company dealing with bullying in the UK and is the winner and current holder of the Anti-Bullying Flame Award. Exploring issues of E-safety, Cyberbullying, Anti-Bullying among others.
Why volunteer?
Volunteer hours can help to strengthen your CV, UCAS application, references and work experience in a field you are interested in. Here at Actionwork we want to offer you the chance to utilise your skills, gain new ones and have fun whilst doing so.
As a Company we take a flexible approach to volunteering and are prepared to tailor a volunteer package to you. We have previously had interest in volunteering from individuals all over the UK and have been able to offer both on and off-site positions. Currently we are offering the following opportunities to volunteer with Actionwork®:
Workshop Content Contributor.
This role can be fulfilled at the Arts Centre or as an offsite role with regular deadlines.
This will involve but is not limited to:
- - Creating resources to complement our current areas of interest: i.e. Homophobia, Racism, Consent, Sexual Harassment, Drug Misuse
- - Supporting Actionwork’s workshop facilitator with delivery of sessions
Arts Centre Volunteers.
This role involves a hands-on role at our new and upcoming Arts Centre based in WSM.
This will involve but is not limited to:
- Researching materials and following leads relating to building work
- Painting, cleaning and basic DIY with the support of the team
- Creative input in the development of Actionwork’s new Arts Centre.
M-Power Magazine Guest Co-Editor.
This role can be fulfilled at the Arts Centre or as an offsite role with regular deadlines.
This will involve but is not limited to:
- - Proofreading articles
- - Creating articles relating to Actionwork’s ethos and subject matter
- - Contacting relevant parties for interviews
Researcher.
This role can be fulfilled at the Arts Centre or as an offsite role with regular deadlines. This will involve but is not limited to:
- Researching various upcoming and current trends relating to our work
- Current practices used by similar organisations
- Promoting and detailing good practice
These roles are potentially interchangeable and will likely complement various areas of your expertise as a volunteer.

Volunteer Tier Scheme.
We are offering our volunteer scheme in the structure of a three tier programme; the completion of each tier will offer our volunteers various Actionwork benefits outlined below:
- Tier 1: 50 Volunteer Hours logged with Actionwork
- A written reference up to 12 months after completion of volunteer hours.
- Complementary tickets to three Actionwork shows of your choice.
- Tier 2: 100 Volunteer Hours logged with Actionwork
- A written reference up to 12 months after completion of volunteer hours.
- Complementary tickets to three Actionwork shows of your choice.
- 1 Year Free Actionwork Membership
- Tier 3: 150 Volunteer Hours logged with Actionwork
- A written reference up to 24 months after completion of volunteer hours.
- Complementary tickets to three Actionwork shows of your choice.
- 1 Year Free Actionwork Membership
- Priority booking of the Actionwork Arts Centre space for personal use.
What happens next?.
